The Seams Masterclass is a half-day workshop tailored for sewists who are confident in using a sewing machine and want to improve their garment-making skills.
This Sewing Level 2 class teaches essential seams techniques. Beginners learn fundamentals, while experienced sewists refine skills for a professional finish. It's ideal for those lacking seams confidence. An experienced tutor provides guidance and tips, building confidence and allow you to create strong finishes in varying fabric types.
What You Will Learn:
How to sew plain, French, flat-felled, and lapped seams.
Constructing a Plain Seam: Mastering the standard "right sides together" technique and identifying various edge finishes to prevent fraying.
Executing a French Seam: Learning the "seam within a seam" method to perfectly encase raw edges on lightweight or sheer fabrics.
Producing a Flat-Felled Seam: Creating a durable, flat-lying structural seam with professional topstitching suitable for heavy-duty garments like denim.
Applying a Lapped Seam: Learning to correct overlap and topstitch fabric layers to reduce bulk or join non-fraying materials like leather and felt.
Evaluating fabric weight and garment function to choose the most effective seam type for a specific project.

Class Booking Policy
Please note that class bookings are non-refundable. Due to our small class sizes, rescheduling is also very limited. If you notify us at least two weeks before the scheduled class, we will do our best to transfer your booking to another date—however, this cannot be guaranteed.
All classes require a minimum of four participants to run. In the unlikely event that we need to cancel due to low enrollment, we will contact you promptly and offer either a full refund or the opportunity to rebook on an alternative date.
Minimum age for this class: 16 years old.
Important note: We will be taking photos during the session for our website and marketing purposes. If you prefer not to be included in the photos, please inform us before the session.
Please note: Depending on your individual sewing speed and experience level, you may not finish your project within the session time. However, we will ensure you leave with all the guidance, instructions, and support you need to confidently complete it at home.
